It formed on September 5, 1967, 177 mi E of Bridgetown, Barbados, reached its peak of 161 mph (259 km/h) and a minimum pressure of 923 mb on September 20, 1967, and made landfall 4 times — first near Gros Islet, Saint Lucia on September 7, 1967 as a tropical storm (40 mph). Later landfalls: near Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico on September 17, 1967 as a Category 3 hurricane (127 mph); near Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo, Mexico on September 17, 1967 as a Category 3 hurricane (127 mph); 19 mi E of Heroica Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on September 20, 1967 as a Category 3 hurricane (127 mph).
