Hurricane Iva (1978) was a Category 1 hurricane of the 1978 Eastern Pacific season. It formed on August 11, 1978, 241 mi WSW of Cihuatlán, Jalisco, Mexico, reached its peak of 75 mph (120 km/h) on August 13, 1978, and never made landfall. It rapidly intensified by 34 mph in 24 hours (to 69 mph on August 12, 1978). The storm lasted 4.0 days and travelled about 857 miles (1,379 km).
